Lawn bowls

On Monday, sixteen of our class students went to play lawn bowls at Heathmont.  There were only 2 schools going to play lawn bowls, St Tims and another school. Only the top two teams went through to state and since there were only two schools, we automatically went to state! There were four teams and each team played four games. I was the the third person to bowl in the team.

After the first game, we won and the teachers told me to be the skipper which is the last person to bowl. The teachers said that the skipper is the most skilled player in the team. When we played the second game, we were losing and our teacher’s friend told me a small thing to do that was called the drive. It means you hit the jack into the gutter and if you hit the jack and your ball goes in the gutter too, its still alive. I did it on my first go and my ball went in the gutter too. That ball was the winning ball of the game so, we won the game.

On our third game we were versing one of the toughest teams in their school. It started to rain  but, we were still played. It was raining hard and the ground got really wet so the balls wouldn’t go as far. We lost five-zero. We got told that we were losing and in the last 4 games we had to win them all. We played our last game. At the end of the game we…… Lost! We lost 4-1.

We went in the rooms upstairs and one of the teachers of that club gave out runners up and winners awards. We received the runners up and the other school got winners. Congratulations to the school that won. We go to state since we came second. I learnt that you should never roll a ball too hard or too soft and I also learnt that the smaller circle on the ball is the side that curves the ball in.

Week 4: Hawks in schools

This week, a Hawthorn player came to our school. He didn’t actually  play for Hawthorn but he was the leader of Hawks in schools program. Hiss name was Michael Kelly. He showed us a video and the players in the video were Jack Gunston and Angus Litherland. They were talking to us about the food we should eat and the drinks we should drink. He explained that we should drink 5 glasses of water a day and they also said to eat 2 serves of fruit  and 5 serves of vegetables a day. They told us the five fruit groups: protein, fruit, dairy, vegetables, grains. They also explained to us to exercise for one hour. We also got a Hawthorn diary to fill in. We had to fill in how much fruit and vegetables we ate. I learnt to stay hydrated and eat some fruit and vegetables and day.

Week 2:My learning

In the week, the year 5/6’s went to Emmaus to see a production. There were many other schools there to watch it to.  My class sat in the middle so we had a great view of the stage. There were two ex student’s from our school who were acting.  At the start, the orchestra was playing music while the actors were getting ready and there were some people in the back moving some props to get ready for the next scene. The production was a bit about romance and courage to me. The part I enjoyed the most was when Bella told the beast to release her dad and take her instead. It would take a whole lot of courage to say that to a beast. They practise the production for nine months. What I learnt from the production was that don’t judge someone by there looks. Judge them by there personality. The beast looked ugly on the outside but he had a kind heart in the inside.

Week 1:My learning

I have learnt how to draw a optical illusion hand on paper with just texter’s, pencils and a ruler. We got the idea by this video:

When you have completed it. It should look like this.

The idea of the optical illusion is that it is suppose to stick out in 3D if you do everything correct. When I did it, I made a few mistake’s.

Week 9: Animals

My favourite dog is the Bulldog. For reasons:

. I go for Western Bulldogs.

And I had a dog before but it was a boxer.

Bulldogs originally were used to drive cattle’s to market’s and to compete in a bloody sport called bullbaiting. Today, they’re gentle companions who love kids. A brief walk and a nap on the sofa is just this dog breed’s speed.

The Bulldog is popular dog in the U.S., but he’s not for everyone. He’s surprisingly heavy for his size, and if you need to pick him up, say to take him to the vet, it can be a challenge. Inside the house, Bulldogs tend to be inactive, preferring to sleep until it’s time to eat again. They love children, but don’t expect them to spend hours chasing a ball or running with the kids in the backyard. The Bulldog may engage in such play for a while.
